Why Did the Earth's Inner Core Freeze?

Scientists are still puzzled about how Earth's inner core transitioned from a liquid state to solid, despite its extreme heat. A recent study sheds light on the process of this "freezing" event, explaining that the core's liquid iron gradually solidified as the planet cooled. This discovery could help explain the behaviour of Earth's magnetic field and improve our understanding of the core's ongoing dynamics.
