Peanut allergies, common in Western countries and affecting about 2.9% of the U.S. population, often persist into adulthood.

Oral Mucosal Immunotherapy (OMIT) is a treatment that desensitizes the immune system by targeting the oral mucosa.

Scientists have developed a toothpaste using OMIT to reduce allergic reactions.

In a study with 32 participants, those using the peanut toothpaste showed improved tolerance without severe side effects, only mild and temporary ones like oral itching.
