Was Atlantis A Mountain?
The mystery of Atlantis has puzzled archaeologists for years, with many dismissing it as myth while others believe it was inspired by real events and places.
The legend describes Atlantis as a technologically advanced city that existed thousands of years before the ancient Egyptians.
The city supposedly disappeared in a cataclysmic event, leaving no trace.
Now, researchers in Spain have discovered an ancient seamount off the Canary Islands, named "Mount Los Atlantes," that might be linked to the Atlantis legend.
This seamount, situated 1.4 miles beneath the ocean, was home to several inactive volcanoes and had once been islands.
Project leader Luis Somoza suggests that these sunken islands could be the origin of the Atlantis story.
